Title: Third Friday Art Walk Coordinator
Classification: Part-time, Seasonal, 25 hrs. per week
Compensation: $18 per hour
Reports to: Community Building & Engagement Manager (CB&E Manager)
About the Role
As the Third Friday Art Walk Coordinator, you’ll be the driving force behind this vibrant monthly event, ensuring it runs smoothly and delivers an engaging, high-quality experience for attendees. Running from May to October, the Art Walk is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and community. You’ll manage event logistics, recruit and coordinate artists and vendors, and oversee day-of operations to bring each Art Walk to life.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Event Coordination & Engagement
- Actively recruit and engage local artists, vendors, and performers to curate a diverse, high-quality lineup.
- Review and approve applications to ensure alignment with event goals, quality standards, and community representation.
- Assign and manage booth and performance spaces, ensuring proper setup and resource allocation.
- Implement and execute monthly themes that shape vendor offerings, business engagement, and entertainment.
- Coordinate immersive art experiences in EPIC Art Park, greenspaces, and empty lots, transforming them into dynamic spaces for dining, performances, and public art.
- Organize at least two art activities or exhibitions per event to enhance the artistic experience.
- Serve as the primary contact for 6th Street Storefronts, ensuring their participation and support during the event.
- Engage with the Strawberry Hill Neighborhood to facilitate resident involvement and logistical coordination.
Logistics & Operations Planning
- Oversee event setup, traffic flow, safety measures, and other logistics, ensuring seamless execution.
- Coordinate with traffic control, waste management, and security providers, serving as the primary point of contact for adjustments or issues.
- Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges, including weather-related disruptions.
- Organize and train event volunteers to ensure smooth operations and effective on-site support.
- Apply strategic logistics and operational planning to ensure efficiency, fairness, and an optimal experience for all participants.
Administrative Tasks
- Manage event-related communications, responding to inquiries from vendors, artists, and stakeholders.
- Oversee the Third Friday Art Walk inbox, organizing forms and inquiries using Airtable and Squarespace.
- Collect feedback by distributing post-event surveys and compiling data into reports for the CB&E Manager.

- Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs., including event equipment and supplies.
- Tool & Equipment Use: Safe handling of tools and equipment such as sound systems, tents, tables, and chairs.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication is essential for coordinating with artists, vendors, community members, and volunteers.
- Safety & Ergonomics: Adherence to safety protocols to ensure personal and team safety in outdoor and high-traffic event environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Event Planning Experience – Prior experience coordinating events, festivals, markets, or community gatherings is strongly preferred.
- Arts & Community Engagement – Passion for the arts and experience working with artists, vendors, or community organizations.
- Strong Organizational Skills – Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders effectively.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability – Quick thinking and flexibility to troubleshoot event-day challenges and logistical issues.
- Communication & Relationship Building – Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for engaging with artists, vendors, businesses, and the public.
- Hands-On Approach – Comfortable with physical event setup, including lifting materials (up to 50 lbs.), setting up tents, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Technology & Administrative Skills – Familiarity with email communication, event management platforms (e.g., Airtable, Squarespace), and social media is a plus.
- Leadership & Teamwork – Experience leading volunteers or working collaboratively with teams to ensure smooth event execution.
